What We Do

Cultural and Education Reform

For some people, the Indonesian education process is still a luxurious item because our education fee is still heavily lean on public obligation not as the government services. The constitution had compelled the state’s commitment to enhance and develop our human resources, however, the government failed to impose a genuine policy to fulfil its ideal objective.

On education problems, the government policies had not focused on lower societies and also never systematically develop our education system properly. The Indonesian education system up until this moment had not fully put into effect the learning method, accordingly, children will not be able to understand any subject comprehensively. Subsequently, many children cannot understand the subject although they graduated from their school. Worst than that, the Indonesian national education system did not educate students to be a determined person especially towards many problems within our societies.

Therefore, some people say that Indonesian education problems are connected with social and cultural dimensions. Socially, the government policies have taken poorer children rights to have an appropriate education. Culturally, the existing Indonesian education system will make a further distance between children and their social reality in their own societies.

Hence, ProPatria had been trying to manage these social and cultural dimensions through its programme of Cultural and Education Reform. ProPatria helps children from poor family to fulfil their tuition fee and their basic school requirements. On the other side, ProPatria also trying to change our education system through many ways such as workshops, seminars, discussions, trainings, et cetera especially for teachers. ProPatria simultaneously also enhancing its national partnership with government institutions, parliament and other non-governmental organisations to support each other.

Propatria’s efforts was based on one comprehension that we need to breed and nurture outstanding generation by means of systematic and sustainable process, because we cannot produce them just by inactive process and waiting for them to grow by nature. Children need good environments, which is encouraging, supporting and enable their latent abilities to develop optimally, therefore their surroundings have to create it. As follows, school and family environment hold the most important role to encourage children’s intelligence, aptitude and creativity so our children can develop optimally.  Subsequently, children need a conducive environment to explore and exercise their physical abilities in order to support their academic capabilities as a means of children and their social education.

In the future, ProPatria planning to develop this program comprehensively by means of involving more education stakeholders throughout Indonesia with greater support from all government institutions and other related organizations.
